Ah November, the one time of year where almost all is quiet in our neck of the woods. Angel Fire is taking its month-long hibernation to prepare for the hustle and bustle of the upcoming ski season, where winter reigns supreme. So what’s there to do during the shoulder season in the Southern Rockies of New Mexico when the resort isn’t open, and half the restaurants in town are closed? At Angel Fire RV Resort we say, plenty!
During the shoulder season, there’s no better place to socially distance than Angel Fire RV Resort! It’s almost a well-kept secret that you’ll have the entire place to yourself. Why not bundle up and head out to enjoy the peace and quiet we all seek during this unusual year.
Stargaze & Nature Walks
Raise your hand if you’ve seen the milky way. No, we mean really see it stand out as a streak of intense sparkle contrasting the midnight hues above. In Northern New Mexico, the dark skies come to life at night and there’s plenty of meteor showers to plan for. Northern Taurids, an upcoming meteor shower that peaks through the middle of November, is a perfect way to wish on a shooting star. Most meteor showers are best seen after midnight. So bundle up, pop some popcorn, get a thermos of hot cocoa and peppermint schnapps and prepare for the show.
If staying up past the wee hours of the morning isn’t your style and you find yourself waking up with the early birds, then you’ll be sure to encounter more of the “locals”. One of the largest herds of elk in America call the Angel Fire area home, and can often be seen grazing in the fields that surround the RV Resort. If you wake up early enough, you can even hear them bugling to each other! The golf course and the Greenbelt trail system is another surefire location to encounter all of the creatures. The area is home to critters like cottontail rabbits, mule deer, and various birds that haven’t flown south for the winter. Bring your camera and hope they pose for a picture!
